Project Potcakes in Flight
The Bahamas Humane Society – a no kill shelter – is currently overwhelmed with dogs which has resulted in an accommodations capacity crisis. Fortunately, a number of shelters in the greater Toronto, Canada region have stepped up with an offer to take in up to 100 of these dogs. These 100 healthy adult dogs and puppies will be received at the various shelters in Canada where they will be vetted and appropriately processed for adoption.
Project Potcakes in Flight will be a massive effort in October 2018 that includes cargo flight arrangements, veterinary care and medications, travel and containment accessories and more. The costs for this project will be considerable and we need help to fund it!
Volunteers in both Canada and the Bahamas are already gearing up for this massive canine-itarian effort that will give these dogs an opportunity for a great life and will ease the great burden on the Bahamas Humane Society.
Potcake is the name given to the stray dogs of the Bahamas and the Turks & Caicos Islands. It came about because the locals fed the caked remains of the cooking pot to the dogs. As generations have passed, Potcakes have evolved into a breed which is extremely smart, loyal and loving.
We thank you in advance for your amazing support!
